Brenderup Skole is located in the rural area of Middelfart district on the island of Funen (Fyn). Our school is a small public school ranging from 0th to 9th grade and providing education for students from 6 to 16 years of age. Many of our students come from a socio-economically disadvantaged background and have little to none intercultural experience. We have about 230 students and, due to our focus on inclusive education, a considerable number of them suffer from various challenges, from ADH and severe learning difficulties to autism.
With the project we hope to add to our students’ skills in their second language, English, increase their multicultural awareness and interest for being part of the European Union, and develop their concern for environmental issues concerning forests, sustainability and the environment in general.
The school as a whole, our students in particular, but definitely also their parents, will certainly profit from the project collaboration as it will provide them with a unique learning opportunity of their own role as part of the European society and thus of their own responsibility towards the environment.
